Q: What is Chi Kung?
A: Chi Kung is a ancient Art of Energy. Shaolin Chi Kung is the Art of Energy developed and refined by many famous masters at the world famous Shaolin Temple in China. Shaolin Wahnam Chi Kung is the distillation of the best of this tradition to make it very easy and relevant to the needs of people today. Wahnam West provides an easy to follow program for individuals that benefits organizations.
Q: Is Chi Kung like Tai Chi Chuan?
A: It is very similar but it is not a Martial Art. It is simple movements done in a gentle, slow meditative state of mind. It much less complicated than Tai Chi Chuan. The focus in Chi Kung is on relaxation. It can be called an exercise but it is a very gentle, slow and enjoyable "Meditative Exercise". It also embodies Zen because the practice is simple, direct and effective.
Q: Employees have to practice on a regular basis to get results?
A: Yes. If they only practice on the day of the seminar and never practice again they may find that they had an interesting and inspiring day but they cannot expect to get effective long term results. However, that is why we have designed the regular practice session to be very enjoyable, easy and carefree. After a 5 to 15 minute practice session a person feels very refreshed, no matter how they were feeling before the session. Thus, the person looks forward to practicing.
Q: Is the Wahnam West Program an Employee Wellness Program? Is it different in any way?
A: The Wahnam West program is certainly an Employee Wellness Program. But it is also unique and more effective for several reasons.
- It is so easy to practice and integrate into an employee’s lifestyle. A practice session is gentle, meditative and not strenuous. The motivation required for “Going to the Gym” for a workout is a challenge for many people.
- The time investment is minimal. The standard session for Wahnam West Chi Kung is 15 minutes
- It doesn’t require driving to a location like a gym. The standard 15 minute Wahnam West Chi Kung session can be done almost anywhere.
- It energizes the employee. When someone finishes the 15 minute session they feel better, more relaxed and more energized no matter how they were feeling before the session.
- It appeals to people who don’t like to go to the gym. Many people are uncomfortable with going to the gym and don’t want to be pushed into doing so. Our program is an effective alternative.
- The program enhances the employee’s physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual health. It works on all levels to enhance the state of the person.
Q: How long is a Wahnam West seminar?
A: Our standard seminar is one full day. A 3 hour session, a break to eat and another 3 hour session on the same day. The seminar can be modified to suit unique needs of each organization. Q: Where does the name Wahnam come from?
A: The name was coined by the world famous Author and Shaolin Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit, who resides in Malaysia. Grandmaster Wong named his own organization Shaolin Wahnam in gratitude to two of his own most special Shaolin teachers, Lai Chin Wah and Ho Fat Nam. Thus, Wah-nam. Grandmaster Wong is the teacher of Anthony Spinicchia who is the Chief Instructor of Wahnam West. We carry on the name of Wahnam in gratitude and respect to our cherished teachers who preserved a very rare art so that we can benefit from it today.
